About Us
The Mission of Reaching the Goal for African Children
We want the children of Africa to be free from hunger. We also want them to
Founders We are Bill and Linda Fleit, recently retired and living on the west coast of Florida. Our goal to help the children of Africa started in 2009 when we became involved with the WorldTeach program. As volunteers, we were sent to teach for a year in the impoverished town of Rundu, Namibia. This experience opened our eyes to the extreme hardships that so many children in Africa face on a day-to-day basis. After returning from Namibia, we decided we wanted to do something to help. Board of Directors We are very proud of our Board – many different personalities and experiences, but their common goal is to improve the lives of others. Rosemary Bowler, elementary school educator and administrator, consultant, and community organizer. Carol Fleit Cipriani, currently continues her long career in commercial lending and banking. Theodore Griffin, retired businessman involved in sales throughout his career. Cole Morton, retired businessman and Vietnam veteran, active in helping people deal with issues regarding war and its implications. Lisa Morton, Cole’s wife, a retired Unitarian minister serving the Cape Cod community. African Liaison Sister Wilhelmine Mukusho, of the Benedictine Sisters of Oshikuku, has been an invaluable partner with us in distributing funds and other resources to the children. She works with us not as a religious person, but as a person with the kindest heart and deepest compassion; Sister Wilhelmine has dedicated her life to helping the children of Africa. |
![]() Willem's Story
Willem’s parents have both died from HIV/AIDS and one of Willem’s responsibilities is to care for his younger brother. In order to attend the University of Namibia, Reaching the Goal for African Children has provided Willem with money for books, a computer, transportation, housing, and food. In Willem's own words: “Thank you for the help Mr Bill, if it wasnt for you i would have been in the streets by now. i dont know how to thank you for this help but one thing is that i believe whenever you help those in need, for as long as God is there will always be a reward for you, even more than what you have given. i tried to study very hard, problems hindered but you minimized them by giving me a hand and by ensuring me that all will be fine. the motivation you have given me will never be in vain. the problems i faced made me stronger that i dont see them as problems anymore, i see them as challenges where one has to be strong in order to get through them and i believe im going strong, and no matter how many years this is going to take some day i will have to graduate as an Electrical engineer. - Willem” Feel good!
